Obsessions....

I suppose all interior blogg ladies have obsessions... blogging & interior in general being the obvious ones... but we all have other, more defined obsessions within interior... a collection of oddities that make our home stand out from the crowd... Defining obsessions... I have quite the list it turns out... just take a look....

Old suitcases; they are the best solution for storing messy things like old magazines, hobby & craft equipment ect ect. And they look gorgeous!!!
Skyline & Nutbrown; retro kitchen utensils... I started collecting these on accident, and then decided they needed a proper way of being displayed... so thats why I hung them over the hob.
Skeleton Keys; I started this collection a long time ago, originally planning on a framed display. But in lack of a frame I threw them here and there, and now they stay that way. Because I loved how it looked. I am always on the lookout for more though :)
Old glass bottles; I love them... I love the apothecary look and style. And therefor I collect small glass bottles and use them pretty much everywhere. Favorite colours being old aqua blue, green and clear shades... I think they add whimsy to any decor without being to heavy! Besides candles next to bottles give off an amazing shine!
Frog Princes; frogs in general... but if it has a crown I am sold! In reality I am alittle scared of frogs and toads... so I havent exactly tested out if kissing one would land me a prince... I only have three crowned frogs, but I always want more... Of course, there could be too many...
Dragonflies; it is my totem animal, and you will find them hidden all around my home & in my jewelry and clothes too. I even have one tattoed on my calf. Self-designed even. My sister share this obsession and we are on a constant hunt for more to add to our collection.

Old Green & turqouise "stuff"; I adore the colour green, and turquoise/teal/aqua. And if I ever find something old and worn in these colours, I will try and get a hold of it! Many of my bits and pieces around my house has been found burried in basements and outhouses... covered in dust untill I saved them!
Green Figgjo; Norwegian ceramic wear. I collect anything made in their wonderful green shade. In fact I made sure my kitchen green and my livingroom green went with that shade! It was a must.. you might say I decided my palette around my figgjo collection!
Birds; This is a slighter newer obsession. It started out with wanting a bird theme in my diningroom... But I do melt for all little birdie things now... And they have escaped into the livingroom as well....
Lanterns; I simply cant get enough! I have 15!!! So far... and I could see me get more... becuase the library isnt decorated yet! HAH!!! Room for more!

Moss; I dont know why, but I really love decorating with moss... displays, little terrariums, around flowers ect ect ect. When I go for walks I try to remember my basket, so that I can collect nice pieces of this green delight on my way... And then use it here and there... :)
So... what are your obsessions? Let me know if you post about it... I would really like to read :)

Weekend at Last

This week has been strange, and not too good... so instead of wallowing in self pity and depression online (I have my sofa, blanket, cat and wine for that) I am just going to show you some pictures around the house... I had a spurt of inspiration the other day and re-arranged nick nacks...

Thank you SO much for all the comments lately!!! I am so thrilled, I've had this blog for so long, and I cant belive how many replied to my last post... I love each and every comment I get, and it makes me smile so much!!! So please keep it up :) :)

Used some pressed glass mugs for tealights... They look great and cast beautiful light :)

Bought some new plants when I was in Oslo on monday... at the Tori Amos concert... that was before the week got shitty...

My fairytale lantern has now come inside for the winter...
Have a great weekend everyone... I'll be back with more when I feel better from this dump I'm stuck in right now... promises!!!

My Reading Nook

Part of my soon to be library... I just couldnt wait, so I made my reading nook...

I feel better now, so I took a trip to the fleamarket and found some stuff... among them this round table. It was weatherbeaten and dry and shaky from being left out... I guess at once it was a dark finnish to it. But it was so flaky... really not a nice table at all... But I fell in love with it and alittle work doesnt scare me...
So I painted it, only one layer... and then sanded it down to give it that worn feeling... And now it has a new life in my library... and I smile everytime I look at it... I know the colour probably isnt to everyones liking... but I never wanted my library to be too pale... it was always ment to be dark wood and turqouise and purples... I cant wait to sit down later on with a cup of tea and a good book :) :) :)
The colour I chose was mixed by me... so I guess we could call it Teerqouise... ha ha ha... oh horrible joke I know... But I finally found a shade I really LOVE...

Cough & Sneeze!

I have a cold... a bad one. I sneeze and I cough and I sweat as soon as I try doing *anything*... and I hate it... So mum gave some flowers from her garden, to cheer me up. I love the colours!!!! They look amazing together! The weather outside is amazing and I cant even enjoy it properly by taking a walk... I would just fall down in a cough-fit!!! Well you know... at least Hexa is enjoying the sun... A few pictures of my huge pumkin!!! A gift from dad (see dad?! I chaged it!!!)! Homegrown and everything. And as soon as I feel better I will crack it open and make a lantern, and salted pumkinseeds!I guess because of this Indian Summer wer'e having, and loving... my flowers are starting to bloom once again... What fun :) Allthough I guess they'll have to go to teh basement soon....
Okay, off to make myself yet anoterh cup of tea... sigh...

Fleamarket weekend!

This weekend was the weekend of one of the bigger fleamarkets in town. I had looked forward to this for ages!!! So I lined up with everyone else, and nearly got stepped on while pushing through th door... People are mental I tell you!!!
But it was worth it. I got so much good stuff. My first task was making my way to the porcelain section, and it paid. I got two really nice peices of figgjo green for 90kr. One treangular bowl, sized small and a super nice plate.I then contiuned on to the section where the have clothes, becuase my sister had found us a nice selection of very old suitcases, and I bought 2. One for 30kr and one for 10kr... And also a nice red leather one for 10kr. Which I might use actually... The odd thing is... on saturday we got our suitcases for 10kr each, and later that day found another set. Exactly the same mind you... and they wanted a 100kr for each. The next day these still werent sold and we got them for 30kr each... they are however worth 100-150kr in antique shops... and I imagine they will be even more popular now that the new "vintage travel" look is about to hit. I use mine to store my drawing equipment, photgraphs, linen and everything else... and I want more!!! :)
I also got a tealight tree that I put inside my large lantern outside, along with some moss, it looks so fairytale like now... Gosh I cant stop staring at it. It looks amazing! I also bought that old holepunch which I intent to keep in my library when its done :)
A brass candlestick that I sparyed silver. And I have plans for this one outside.
some tealight glasses in green & a small zinc urn as well :) I think I paid 10kr for the glasses and the urn together.
Also found some rusty candlesticks and one in dark wood that I am saving for my library... and this fearie house... which is now resting next to my mailbox.. And of course something for my Skyline/Nutbrown kitchenware collection! Look it has grown over this season's fleamarkets.I have a massiv headcold, and my voice sounds like I've tried to smoke a whole pack of cigarettes at ones, while slurping down lots of whiskey... it's not even funny!!! And I have company from Scotland... my lovely Elaine is here to keep me entertained.. And we've had the best of weather! Sunday we went to see the O-man's horses being shown. His filly from this season called Golden Dawn (I just call her Goldie Hawn) won best foal of the day! Hurray!!! It was en excellent weekend if you look aside from the feeling ill part of it...Both my cats enjoying the autumn sun... Hexa having a look over her kingdom... or queendom I suppose... and Huldra there out and about on the field....

and today, as I was going to go vote, as it is Election Day, I realized I had a flat tire... what fun!!! siiigh....

Autumn Afternoon

I can't help it... I love this season. Everyday I enjoy seeing the colours of the trees turn from green to a million shades of oranges, reds and browns... The crisp smell of hay being cut, and wheat being harvested. The feeling of that naughty autumn wind on your cheek. The turning of black autumn stormy clouds over your head... The smell of damp forest grounds, the magic of mushrooms popping up everywhere... and the pure bliss of drinking coffee on your porch in the twilight with candles burning, wrapped up in a soft, warm blanket... and maybe I have even added a splash of bailys to that cup... mmm-mm....
See that little shelf with the cups? it's an old metal spice rack. The boxes that came with it decorate my house here and there... And the square planter is an old tobacco box I bought at the local antiques shop :)

I have started to prepare my porch for the autumn... not quite done, and my pelargonias are still ruling out there... but soon it will be filled with pumpkins and autumny flowers :)
The plantstand is a fleamarket find that I painted white :) It needs more flowers... just dont have any that fit yet... :) But hopefully soon :)

Have a brilliant week everyone!!! I am so excited about the comming weekend. One of my best friends from Scotland is comming to stay for a week, and I get time off work... AND there is the huge fleamarket all weekend!!! Hurray!!!
